About Us
Josef and Elena Sepos imigrated from Hungary in 1948. They quickly sourced their first bank loan and purchased a 364 acre parcel of bushland near the riverside town of Allworth in NSW as well as a 5 tonne Chevrolet table top truck .
The couple and their 3 small children moved onto this land and lived in a canvas tent for the first 12months. During that time Joe built the families new house and started cutting mining props from the bush block he now called his home. In 1955 Joe was given his first official contract to supply and deliver mining timber to the local masonite factory (now CSR).
On weekends when he wasnt timber cutting , Joe carted boxes of bananas from local rail sidings into the Newcastle markets whilst Elena stayed home with the 3 young children and ran two chicken rearing sheds which they had hand built behind their house. She raised chickens and sold them directly to Fred Ray whom later was taken over by Steggles . Steggles at that time were selling their chickens door to door.
The youngest son Joe left home and went away to join the army for national service . After Joe jnr was discharged , he returned home with a truck licence and aspirations of going on the road. With his parents backing Joe finally purchased his first truck.
J Sepos and Son Transport was born , with the first contract carrying chicken feed to the families own chicken sheds from Allied Feeds in Sydney .
